In New York City stories lie buried all around us – right in the center of the city, in the idyllic confines of Central Park, lie the ghostly traces of a once-vibrant community: Seneca Village. Seneca Village and the Making of Central Park is a journey into one of Manhattan’s earliest communities of African-American property owners. Archeologist Cynthia Copeland, choreographer Jennifer Newman, and composer Justin Hicks paint a celebratory and reverent picture of the lives lived by the people no longer here to tell their story. 90 minutes. Suitable for ages 10 and up. This walking tour will also take place on Tuesday, June 20th at 6:30 pm.
