Celebrate Archtober, NYC’s architecture and design month, at Bard Graduate Center! BGC along with Wikimedia NYC and Architexx, will host a Wikipedia Edit-a-thon to address the lack of information on Wikipedia about contributions by women, LGBTQI communities, and artists of color to the fields of architecture and design history. The event is designed to improve coverage of the arts on Wikipedia. The edit-a-thon will include tutorials for the beginner Wikipedian, ongoing editing support, reference materials, and refreshments. No prior Wikipedia experience is needed, but please bring a laptop if possible.

Wikimedia NYC is the regional Wikimedia chapter serving the New York metropolitan area. They help promote free access to the world’s knowledge in support of Wikipedia and the other projects of the Wikimedia Foundation. Wikimedia NYC is a separate organization from the Wikimedia Foundation and has no editorial control over Wikipedia or any other project hosted by the Foundation.

ARCHITEXX is a 501c3 non-profit organization for gender equality in architecture that seeks to transform the profession of architecture by bridging the academy and practice. We are a cross-generational group of academics and practitioners, and our organization is open to all women-identifying people and allies. We believe that seeds established in the academy and adopted in practice, are outdated models which perpetuate myths and unsustainable trends in the personal, private, and workplace group experience and public, client perception.

Leading support for Public Programs at Bard Graduate Center comes from Gregory Soros and other generous donors.
