Jeffrey Collins delivered a lecture at the Frick Collection on January 16 in association with the exhibition Luigi Valadier: Splendor in Eighteenth-Century Rome. His lecture, “The Power of Patronage: Valadier and Pope Pius VI,” explored the goldsmith’s work for a demanding and ambitious patron whose strategic embrace of the arts gave Valadier new public visibility while stretching his creativity to the limit.

Deborah Krohn presented a paper at the Newberry Library in Chicago on January 18 entitled “Reading the Table: Handbooks for Food Service in Early Modern Europe.”

Catherine Whalen, Deborah Krohn, François Louis, and Freyja Hartzell will be among the BGC faculty, students, and alumni participating in the Annual CAA Conference, taking place February 13-16 in New York City.
